Default Maytag dryer wont rotate
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LDE8704ACE
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

My dryer is not rotating but it was getting on and heating as I feel the heat. When I look through the web I found the possible cause may be the belt. Model number: LDE8704ACE; Company Maytag

I am not sure wheather it could be possible to do it by myself by opening the dryer.

Do anybody has any suggession what I should do.

Thanks in advance

TSAHA

Yes if the belt is laying on at the bottom of the dryer the drum will not turn.

The belt is likely broken.

You should be able to replace the belt yourself.

Here is a link to your dryer model LDE8704ACE.

Unplug the dryer and remove the front panel.

Take the two screws out of the panel that are near the bottom where the panel slops.

Swing the panel out and release it from the top.

You will then have access to the inside.

Default I could not put the belt on

Thank you Shiela for your kind response,

I opened the dryer and found that the belt is broken. I ordered the belt and received it . Part no is y312959 (part select number: Ps1514301.

I got the belt and tried to fix it but I could not do it. It appears to me that it was a bit longer than it usual. I am missing something somewhere. Could you please help.

Thanks

tsaha

The idler pulley should take up the slack on the belt.

The belt goes on the bottom side of the idler pulley and then hook on to the motor.

The ribbed side of the belt goes toward the drum.

Is the method for getting access to the inside of the dryer for belt replacement the same/similiar on a Maytag model DE303? The part has already been ordered, but I didn't have to take off the whole front panel to get to the old belt, I only removed the small access cover at the bottom (rear) of the machine and found the old belt laying there (and snapped in 1/2)

Thanks!

get a putty knife and slide it between the gap of the top of the dryer and the front panel. there should be two clips the have to be pushed in. the clips are about a inch or two from the sides
