Here is a link to a parts breakdown, should help you locate things
Maytag LEA60AW

Here is a link to where you can get a service manual
Maytag Service Library

Neither of the thermal cut offs you replaced should operate under normal circumstances (good blower operation)
The high limit is a safety device, the thermal fuse is another safety device just in case the high limit does not trip)

Normal temp is regulated by the cycling thermostat on the blower

Have you checked the heater coil it may be touching the case? Especially if heater on during air only temp.

Try different cycle types and temps.

Welp..I thought the heat was fixed by replacing that sensor but no such luck. The thing is still running SUPER hot. I have tried all the temp settings...

Air Fluff = (No Heat ..so this is ok)
Delicate = SUPER HOT
Medium = SUPER HOT
Regular = SUPER HOT

I can't tell the diff between the three settings, they all see to be very hot. I have tried the two cycles (Wrinkle Release and Regular) and neither seem to make a different. The Air Only cycle works as well.

What are you referring to the heater coil may be touching the case? The heater is not on during air only temp but I'm just about out of ideas. About to call the maytag guy

PS... The INtellidry sensor seems to be working however as the "Less Dry/ More Dry" LEDs properly light depending on if the clothes are wet or dry.

DOn't know if that will matter any...

Thanks much for any ideas!

Here is a tech sheet for the unit
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16023127.pdf

One other possibility is the temp switch could be that the air only contacts are working but other contacts are not.

You should be able to remove the wires from it and check it with the meter, see the tech sheet.
I would make a small diagram or tag the wires just to make double sure there are no problems re-installing.

So last night I tested every contact on the temp switch. I even wired the purple and white together which should hard wire it to Delicate mode if I'm not mistaken.

Still, pretty hot. I'm correct in saying the following right?

Regular = Hot
Medium = Med Heat
Delicate = Low Heat
Air Fluf = No Heat

Delicate should be the lowest right?

I'm so lost...the only thing this could be is that cycling thermo and I already replaced that. I'm gonna take that tech sheet and measure everything in the heater chain of devices.

If you have any more ideas let me know. Thanks

Yes I would say delicate is the lowest

Regular = Hot
Medium = Med Heat
Delicate = Low Heat
Air Fluf = No Heat

They do not use the thermostat's heater for Regular
They switch in the thermostat's heater and a 10 Kilohm resistor (in series) for Medium
They switch in the thermostat's heater by itself for Delicate
They disconnect the thermostat contacts for Air Fluff

I am convinced the problem must be in the thermostat. Maybe the one I replaced is fried. I'll try the test with a small flame like the Tech Sheet says and see if I hear a click.

Also, the thermostat heater, it says result of testing terminal to terminal is "1600 +- 160ohms" Does this mean it could measure 1.6kohms +- 160ohms ?

OK...So here is a theory. I have tested the cycling thermo and it works ok. I put a small lighter on the end of it and it clicked. When the thermo clicked the circuit was broken (And thus the heater turned off). The problem is, the heater is never turning off.

So I'm wondering. In order for the air to get to the thermo it must go out the heater, out the back of the dryer, thru the tumbler, then out the exhaust vent and the cycling thermo is on the exhaust vent. Could it be I'm not getting enough air flow thru there?

I have checked the vent and there is air coming out but I don't know how much should be. Is there more than the fan that is attached to the tumbler to push air?
