Default Maytag dryer
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LDG8404AAE
Age: More than 10 years

I have a maytag dryer that makes alot of noise when you start it up like a flat tire but once its running it goes away. Could it be the drum rollers or belt idler? Or could it be something else? I would appreciate any help with this also if you have a diagram and step by step on how to change these parts if that is what is Thanx !

Probably a roller but I would open it up and take a look.
Dryer could probably use an overhaul
Check all rollers/idler and shafts for wear
Check your belt
Check the front glides
Check the felt tub seals
Check and clean blower wheel/fan
Replace parts as necessary
Give the interior a good cleaning, especially the motor
Clean and check your vent system

Here is a good way to narrow down your problem. If you turn on the dryer for about ! minute, then shut it off. If you still here the rumble after it is shut off, it would be the motor blower whell. If not, I usually replace the 2 rollers, the idler pully, and belt. Tom applianceeducator.com
