Question Maytag
Model Number: DE410
Age: More than 10 years

Greetings, I have an old Maytag dryer and recently the belt will not stay in the correct place on the dryer drum to turn it. I took it all apart and cannot find a reason for this to happen. I put the belt back in place and either manually turn it or will turn the dryer on and in about a couple of turns the belt slips back off. any ideas on what to do?
thanks, Cindy

Something must be worn.

Check the support rollers, the front bearing and the idler pulley.

Here is a link to your dryer model DE410.

My problem is that I don't know how to remove the side panels to inspect the referenced parts

It's usually clips that hold the top on. Most dryers are accessed from the back though, aren't they?
