GE gas dryer, clean screen every use, yearly clean out internally. Did a load, clothes smelled funny, had about a years worth of lint. Screen was full to top, clothes are junk. They lost their strength and just ripped while putting them on. Dryer has not done it again, but I'm out a load of clothes. Don't want to repeat. Any suggestions? Idea's?

What did the clothes smell like?

What were the clothes washed in?

I don't think the dryer is at fault.

Check the washer to see if it has the same smell.

Here is a link to your dryer model DDG6380GDL.
