Post Manual for Maytag Electric Dryer
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDET446AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I am troubleshooting a problem with our Maytag electric dryer, model MDET446AYW. It is a little under 3 years old. The symptom is that the dryer runs on & on in AUTO mode without shutting off. The heater works fine. The dryer works correctly in timed mode which is what we use until I either fix it or call a repair guy.
After reading several forum questions, I cleaned & scrubbed the moisture sensor with 70% rubbing alcohol and removed all lint from the dryer. We will run a test load later today.
Based on the information found here, the only other, obvious cause for the constant running would be a (the?) thermostat. Question is which one? I see one located in the exit for the dryer air. If there are more, I do not know where to look.
I want to locate a manual so I can safely remove the front sheet metal (the one with the door attached) and look inside the front of the dryer. Can you supply one for downloading?

Default Maytag Dryer still broken

The dryer continues to run on w/o switching to the cool down phase. I'd like to read the service codes. I saw something which told me how to do that. What I don't know is how to read more than one code and how to reset the dryer when done. Can you help with this, too?

Thanks for your help, denman. The dryer still needs some work. Can you tell me how to read the service codes, assuming more than one, and how to reset the machine afterwards? (Other than pulling the plug?)

Sorry do not have that info and cannot seem to find it on the net
Perhaps someone else has this info
I would take a good look at the Moisture Sensor since this will definitely cause your symptoms
