Unhappy Loud Dryer
Brand: Maytag
Age: 1 - 4 years

Recentiy moved to new house . House had 4 hole dryer plug and Maytag was 3 prong pigtail type Changed wall plug to 3 hole type female . After I pluged in and turned on ,dryer makes deep groweling noisesas it works . stays on 1-2 minutes and turns off. Could the movers knocked sometrhing loose or could I have reversed the polarity on the new wall plug

Does the drum turn when you start it?

Does it turn at the proper speed?

It sounds like something might be jamming.

Take the belt off the motor pulley and see if the motor turns freely.

If is not turning freely check the blower wheel housing for obstructions.
