Default Kenmore Soft Heat - No heat
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: Heavy Duty 60 Series
Age: More than 10 years

Hey fellow DIY'ers,

My trusty Kenmore Dryer has finally decided to not function properly. The drum still spins fine, but the dryer has gone from soft heat to pretty much no heat at all. I've read the threads, and surfed the net on this....just wondering if anyone else can give me any other insight for a resolution.

While the dryer is currently apart, I plan to check the continuity on the thermal fuse, thermostat, and whatever else looks like it controls temperature. I'll be sure to check the fuses/box when everything is back together, and put the dryer fuse from on-off-on. This is the gas model, so as far as I can tell, there isn't any heating element....just a gas burner located in the front bottom of the dryer. I've attached some pictures of the setup on the back of the dryer. Any further help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Model#: 97566200
Stock# : 75662

what do you mean by soft heat?? do you mean that it would take along time to dry the cloths. Is the ignitor glowing and dose the flame start. If not it could be a bad thermostat. Is the vent clear if not it could have blown the thermal fuse

The dryer seemed to have heat for about the first 5-10 mins, then came out cold. Once this happened to 1-2 loads...we dismantled the device, leaving it in its current state. I'm going to go through the terminals of the electronics to check continuity tomorrow...will post what I learn. I'll check the vent, fuse box, tstat, fuse, and see if there is any ignitor glow / flame. Thanks.
