Default Kenmore Dryer wont run after start button is released
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.63932101
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Kenmore Evenheat dryer. The dryer will run as long as you hold the start button in, but stops once you release it.

Is there a way to test the switch?

The problem with your dryer is not the switch.

The problem is the motor.

There are two winding in your motor. One is the start winding and the other is the run winding.

The start winding gets the motor turning and then the run winding takes over.

Your run winding has an open circuit.

So as long as you hold the start button in the start winding stays engaged.

Here is a picture link to your motor for model 417.69042991.

actually i belive it's more like the centrifigul switch isn't spinning out. look at the pic there see the black box? right on the other side on the motor you'll see some moving parts make sure theres nothing jamming them and blow it out with high pressure air. or just buy a new motor depends on your wallet situation. If you change the motor dont bust your knuckles on the motor clips. good luck
