A few days ago the dryer would run then stop. I opened it up and cleaned out the lint and made sure the electric coil was not broken. It was working fine. It sounds like there is sand in the drum, but there is none. Now when you put in a heavy wet load, it stops. Wait a few minutes and it starts up again, but if you hold the door open and hold the switch in, and put some mild pressure on the inside drum, it stops and you can't restart it, until some time has past.

Sounds like your motor is severly over heating. Did you clean the motor spotless?
And clean the lint chute (take it out)spotless? Was there a large amount of lint, in the motor compartment? Your sandy sound might be completely worn out rear felt seal, and the drum is metal on metal.
