Kenmore dryer runs but stops heating Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 91283100 Age: More than 10 years An olde Kenmore ignites for a few cycles then glows, but does not ignite. I cleaned the exhaust vent and blower houseing, and when I disconnected the vent to the outside, the igniter remained on for a long period. I am quessing the cycling thermostat is failed. I did check continuity across two leads (I think the red ones) I had it there, and the other two lead not. When the exhaust vent to the outside is hooked up again, the dryer ignites, for cycle or two then only glows. Also after the igniter glows, and it has quit igniting it seems to have a grinding sound coming from where the cycling thermostat is (possibly when the dryer is calling for more heating). Does this sound like a cycling thermostat problem or do I have to do more diagnostics. I also read something about jumping the thermostat to see if that is the problem.
How do I do that. Thanks PeteHoovey! |
