Default Kenmore Dryer Blowing Cutoffs
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110-96591240
Age: 5 - 10 years

I'm having problems keeping this dryer from blowing cutoffs, I've checked about everything I can think of, but something is cauing it to pull to much power on the cutoff or something. I've cleaned the line the inside of the dryer everything I can think of that would cause it to overheat. I'm wondering if the timer or motor is weak and causing excessive power draw or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. DLM1

Your post seems to indicate that you are under a misconception. The fuses and cut off blow because of temperature not current.

Your most likely cause is low air flow
Usually this is the vent system. Either the vent is clogged or the exterior flap is not opening fully.
Unhook the unit from the vent exhaust
Take a pair of pantyhose put one leg inside the other and attach this to the exhaust. Leave enough room for it to blow out like a windsock.
You should have a strong exhaust air flow
If not the problem is in the dryer

Have you cleaned and checked the blower wheel?
Is it loose on the motor shaft?
Does the drum turn fairly easily by hand. If it is hard, the motor runs slower and the blower runs slower.
If you use fabric softener check the holes at the back of the drum also check the lint filter. Softener tends to coat these areas and can greatly reduce air flow especially the lint filter. Will have to wash it with soap and water to clean it.

Another possibility is that your regulating thermostat's contacts are welded shut.
If you have a meter measure the resistance. Then put a soldering gun on the face and heat it up. It should open, usually you can hear it open but it is best to measure it just to be sure the contacts open.

Also you can put the unit into a permanent press cycle, you should be able to feel the temperature change at the vent as the unit cycles the heater on/off.
