Default Kenmore Blower Noise
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.91042000
Age: 5 - 10 years

I live in an apartment in close proximity to many other dwellings. Almost everyone around me has the Kenmore/GE/Frigidaire dryer that emits a rather loud medium-pitched "whoooooooooooo" sound whenever the blower is running. When everyone fires up at once, our entire building is filled with this whine.

And recently, I just acquired one of these loud dryers myself. I'm thinking there must be a way to replace the blower wheel with one that doesn't produce the whine, yet has the same airflow properties. If someone has a compatible blower that does NOT produce the whine, care to tell what model/make/year it is and (or) where you got it?

If I could find just the right part for this "modification", I could "fix" everyone's dryer, bringing peace and quiet to my entire building.

I wonder if it is not a air flow problem with the venting system in the building. Does it take longer to dry the clothes then normal. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

The blower wheels, that come in dryers are the only ones avilable.I've been repairing dryers for 40 yrs. The noise comes from the high speed of the blower. any less speed and your clothes would dry poorly, also the motor's speed is fixed,
I can't think of any thing you could do, to make them run quieter
