Default Kenmore 80 series Gas Dryer
Brand: Please select
Model Number: 80 series
Age: Please select

Our 80 series gas dryer will ignite and the gas will come on but only stay on for a minute or two then shuts off. Does anyone know what could be the problem. For a while the vent was blocked partially but now is completely clear. The washer and dryer are both in good shape and I would like to keep the dryer. Is it worth it? Is there a quick fix? Thanks

Default Kenmore 80 series dryer

Hi,

I recently had a problem with the timer so I replaced it however, after a month of replacing this timer, I have another problem. My dryer starts although its making a weird scrapping sound (only in the beginning), bit of over heat and, it turns its self off and it wont let me start again for a few of hours. It seems like as if it shuts its self off till the dryer cools down again.

if you guys have any idea what the problem might be please let me know.

appreciated.

Thanks

Greg

Default Lint

Mine was clogged with lint inside the dryer itself. Some of those symptoms could be from the same problem.

gregyoon, I'm fairly certan your motor's burned out, does it buzz or groan when you press the stsar button, then start making noise just before it stops?
This happens from overheating, kinked vent hose or severly blocked vent, or motor is covered with lint and can't get cooling air. open it up and clean and replace motor

Thanks for the reply bettyboop,
Yes, it gorans and buzz when i press the start button and it goes for maybe
around 10mins and stops again.
how much would it roughly cost me to replace a motor?
do you think motor is will be the only thing i need to replace??
Honestly, is this worth of fixing on this??

Please let me know

Thanks

Greg
