Intermittent stops, intermittent signal sounds Brand: Whirlpool Model Number: LEC7848 Age: More than 10 years Electric dryer (Whirlpool - 12 yrs old). Intermittently stops in mid cycle.
Jiggling the timer dial sometimes starts (and/or stops) the machine. Also, jiggling timer dial sometimes rings the end-of-cycle buzzer.
Heating circuit is working. Venting is clear. Motor runs. The Cycle Control Knob timer motor advances the dial properly on timed cycle.
I opened the Cycle Control Knob and cleaned the contacts as best I could. But same thing keeps happening. By the way - Is there a special way to align the gear wheel when replacing it into the timer housing? Is there some alignment marking? I just gently rotated it until it "locked" into place.
My guess is that I need to replace the Timer (Cycle Control Knob) or realign it. Could it be anything else?
Thanks. |
