Default Frigidaire dryer, very old model, where to get parts.

On the front is 1-18

Model number is stamped on the plate in the back, dec , that is all there is, no - or anything else on the entire line, it is plainly visible. Serial number is, 80da 6245 . 5.5Kw heater. It has worked flawlessly since new, I know a new one would not be as good, I've been around them. I think the belt is bad, but I haven't taken it apart yet to know how it is set up or what else it needs. Possible to find a parts diagram or something, or know of another place to look? Thanks!

I posted this in the other thread, because it was probably the same age/type/similar parts, I suspect the other poster also posted the entire model number as well, and it was never answered.

You might try this:

I wish they carried manuals ;-)

How old are you talking? 1960?

If it is really old you may want to call Frigidaire
US 1-800-599-7569 Canada 1-800-265-8352.

Please let us know how you make out.

It "should" be 70s. I've looked online, and most places have more numbers after Dec in their model selection. Some of the diagrams look close, but I can pick out differences here and there, so I don't trust them without finding the exact one. I would like online/parts diagram, makes it easier for me to see what I'm looking at, and figure out how much it's going to cost, describing parts without a diagram to someone on the phone has never worked for me. I don't want to go crazy with it buying parts either, but for what it gets used for, I know a new one simply would not hold up as long as it should (from others I've seen go bad in this area, they don't make things like they used to). I live on a ranch, and when it rains or snows I sometimes put my stuff in there when it isn't exactly clean just to dry it out, etc. I would not want to treat a new one that way. I may call if I can't find something. I'll see a few days first, and take it apart when I can get around to it. I can also find an old used one for less than $30 probably around here.

Here are pictures.

As near as I can find out your dryer is around a 1967 or 1968 model.

I did find the owners manual for it on the Frigidaire web sight.

The web sight is Frigidaire Appliances - Home and Kitchen Appliances for your home . Click on customer service and then on manuals.

If it is just the belt it should be still available.

There is also another number listed there. It is 1-800-374-4432.

You are right they don't make them like they did back then.

Let me know how you make out.

Sorry I couldn't find a parts breakdown for you.

Well I finally got around to it, and it was not as bad as I thought!! I moved the dryer out, and there was a new hole in the floor next to a line coming up from under the house. Apparently a mouse or two decided to quickly make their home in the dryer (I have a feed bin near the house, although they rarely get to the house, it happens once in a while). They had a nest almost blocking the heating elements, and somehow it looks like a little "stick" got in the belt, and the belt just came off (at least that's all I can see in there as to why it would have come off). I took the back off, put the belt on, cleaned everything, replaced a section of the drum/fabric seal where it rotates (I made a section that should hold up, a guy I found wanted $30 to order just the fabric strip). Anyway, put it back together, tightened everything back up, ran about 6 full loads through it, and it works. It is quieter than it was now, I think some screws were loose. I was expecting much worse for the first "opening" since new.

Thanks again.
