Here is a parts breakdown, a wiring diagram is included
Maytag CDE6000A

I assume the drum/motor runs OK. Is this correct?

Turn your breaker on/off slowly a couple times. Just to make sure you have not lost half your 240 volts.

First thing to try is all cycle types and heat settings
Do any of them give heat

Next things to check are the 2 thermostats, then the heating element

If you do not have a volt/ohm meter I suggest you buy one. You can get a decent digital unit for under $20.00. You do not need fancy, it is nice if the leads are a couple feet long. If it saves you from ordering one unnecessary part it has paid for itself.

Be sure to remove power from the unit

Always remove one wire from the part before you measure it, this eliminates measuring an alternate circuit path

Safety Thermostat 0 ohms
Thermostat 0 ohms across the contacts, heater approx 20 Kilohm's
Heating element approx 10 ohms

How do I get to the heating element and the Thermal Fuse...

It doesn't appear that I can take the back of the dryer off...

What you have to do is pop the top up. Put a putty knife on the left hand side, inbetwwen the top and the front panel, and pry up, and do the same on the right side. Then once you have the top up, look on the inside up top on the left side of the front panel you will see a 5/16s screw, take it out, and there will be one on the right too, take it out. Then pull the top towards you and, lift up, and the bottom will come off the clips. Turn the front side ways so you don't have to take the wires off the switch. If you want to take the wires off the switch, remember where they go. Then you have to lay down on your stomach, and look inside the dryer in the back left hand corner, and you will see the element housing. There will be a 5/16s screw on the left, and one on the right. Take them out, and slide down the housing, and you can actually pull it all the way to the front. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
