Default How to Replace front felt seal?
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.86983110
Age: 5 - 10 years

The front seal came completely out. I have several questions...

1) Can I run dryer without seal until I can fix it?
2) I'm fairly handy. Is this something I can easily do?
3) If I call a repairman, what could I expect to be charged?
4) How do I get access to where I need to place the seal?
5) Can I reinstall the same seal? It doesn't seem damaged
6) How much glue?
7) Is there a particular orientation to the seal when installing, i.e. is there a front edge or back edge to the seal?
8) Where do I place the seal--at the very edge of the drum or set back a certain distance?
9) Any instructions or diagrams would be appreciated.

I'd appreciate any help someone could give me. Thank you.

There's 2 felt seals. One just slips on the front cover over 3 plastic posts to keep it lined up. The other glues on the back of the drum to seal tub to the rear bulkhead.
Which one do you have?

It's the front seal. The rear seal is intact. So, the front seal is not glued? And it's on the front cover and not the drum?

The thick part of the felt seal is placed on top part of the seal mounting on the front panel, it goes over three plastic posts to keep it from slipping around with the drum, make sure you don't put it on backwards, the thin part of the seal is folded and the fold faces the drum. DO NOT USE GLUE!!!!!!!!! these seals work for many years, with almost no problems
