Default How to replace Drum belt/idle pulley
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: let7646aq1
Age: More than 10 years

The Drum stopped rotating, Googled the problem found this site. I'm an emergency room candidate when it comes to home repair. But your directions on how to remove the top and access the cabinet of the dyer was pretty straight forward. When I removed the bottom kick plate there was the belt lying on the floor. But the idle pulley (I think that's what you call it) was also lying on the bottom not attached to anything. I found how to order the part from partselect, I just want to make sure that when I receive the part, will there be basic directions telling me how to attach the idle pulley and belt?

I think I understand that part. My concern is how to mount the idle pulley since I never got a chance to see how and where it's mounted.

Try this;
There are 2 slits in the floor , under the motor pully. Fit the idler pully in the slits under motor pully with idler pully toward the drum. Now with the belt on the drum lined up on the old belt wear marks, groved side down, insert a small loop under idler, spring the idler and belt toward motor, and slip it on motor and release.If you did it right, the belt will have proper tension, Bettyboop
