Default How to remove front panel
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DG407 (pre-series)
Age: More than 10 years

This is a rather old unit that runs beautifully, but now needs a new limit switch. I have the new switch, but the front door panel in most old maytags has two screws at the bottom of the panel which when removed make the front door panel easy to remove. This old gas unit has no screws in that location and I can't find a way to get the front panel off. Does some old timer out there know how to remove the front door panel??? Does the top have to come off first etc...???

Yeah, you can take the back off.

From what I remember, been sometime...

Take the top off to get to top of heating element that is located in front of the dryer.

Thermo cut-out is on top of heating element.

The screws that hold the top in place are on the back side.
Remove all the back screws and then the top will slide forward, off some hooks in the hold the top on in front.

Back comes off, then top and if you have to remove all screws from around the bottom sides to remove sides and front panel in one piece.

Good luck,

Edited to add, see it was the gas model you had..

Sould be about the same other then a electric heating element being in front.
