Default How hard to replace whole bulkhead
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LEQ9858PW0
Age: 1 - 4 years

My problem apparently started with torn up blower fan which rattled my motor enough to have the motor rip out a piece of the bulkhead that the motor sits in. I don't mind spending the money for a new bulkhead and dryer is already taken completely apart, blower housing, drum, motor, etc. My question is: for the average novice who got this far, how hard is it to replace the bulkhead?
I would need to take old heating element off and re-attach it to new bulkhead. I want to order the part but am waiting to hear if this is above my ability. Thank you!

You have it beat if you have the dryer that fare apart.

You will have to remove the heater housing which is a matter of three screws.

Just make sure you label your wire so you know where they go.

You will also want to replace the seals on the lint chute housing.

Here is a link to your dryer model LEQ9858PW0.

Default thank you

Thank you Sheila. I am going to order the bulkhead and go for it. Wish me luck, as a woman attempting this, you are my role model! I am sure I will be back next week when the part is delivered. Thank you for the vote of confidence!
