I am pretty sure that it's the belt that needs to be changed. I had put a load in and started it and walked out. A few minutes later I smelled something burning and went back in. The dryer seemed to be trying to turn but it couldn't. It was heating though. Several people have told me it sounds like the belt.

So...can anyone tell me how to change the belt on my particular model? I put 5-10 yrs old but it could also be older than 10 yrs. And I found a belt on the Lowes website that says it is compatible with White Westinghouse. Is that enough information to know that it will work in my dryer?

Oh good I am glad I got back on here before someone responded. Nevermind! We got it fixed. My dad has had some experience with this, so he came over and helped. But I will definitely be visiting here again when I need some help instead of paying an arm and a leg for service.
