Default High temp grease
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: de400kdw4
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello and thanks for any help. I am new to this forum so not sure how it all works but here goes. I am putting my dryer back together after putting on a new belt, pulley wheel and trying to install a new front drum felt and glide clips or pads.I am wondering if any one knows if I need a special high temp grease for the rear drum roller or if any high temp grease will work? I am also having a problem with the upper felt and glides: the new upper felt has the glides riveted or snapped into place and the glides push into 3 ears on the font panel. The center glide lines up but the two outer ones do not.The part number that I recieved is 5303937139 is this an updated version or just the wrong part? Thanks for any help.

Go Cowboys!!!

Ted.

Tom,
I used a high temp wheel grease, do not think it was lithium based. Does the lithium cause it to run less or handle the heat from the element better?

Thank you,
Ted.

You should be OK
Most wheel bearing grease has a drop point of ~500 F
White lithium grease usually has a drop point of ~350 F

Fact is many wheel greases include lithium

A lithium base grease will last longet without disipating. Plus, that is what the manufacturer usually puts in with the rear bearing kit. Tom ApplianceEducator.com Maybe Denman has a thread ti Lithium grease.

It is the drop point which determines a greases ability to withstand temperature

The lower the drop point the sooner the volatiles will evaporate out of the oil which is used in the grease as a dispersant/carrier. You then end up with a hard lump of gunk.

The grease you used is probably superior to the lithium grease.
Just because a manufacturer uses a certain lube does not mean it is the best lube available. If that was so all cars would come with synthetic oil. They usually use the lowest cost product that will give satisfactory results.

before we over quantify the cylinical advantages of a philisophical perspective of the dynamics of grease. As Betty Boop smartly suggested to the customer that they should I quote " Put a dab of grease on the white plastic cup" Was harmoniouly, eloquent in her justification, and ajudication, and her supercalafagalisticspaladoscious perspective of the situation. To many big words, and to many mispelled big words. CCCCCCCOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFEEEEEEEE!!!! Tom
