Question Help! Unused gas pipe in the way
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LE7680XSW1
Age: More than 10 years

We just moved into a new home and when trying to install our electric dryer in the laundry room, it will not go back far enough to clear the doorway because of a unused gas pipe(not the flexible kind) that is sticking out from the wall. We know that the previous owners had a standard electric dryer installed there but we cannot figure out how they did it with that pipe protruding out. It comes out about 5" from the wall and is 5" above the floor. We thought about cutting a hole in the back to accomodate it but behind the back panel is not an empty space but a metal rectangular tube. If anyone has any suggestions or insight, I would be grateful!

I would build a stand for the dryer, 5 inches should not make it too high.
As long as it is well built and level and tied into the back wall it should do the job.

But as bettyboop said unless you are side venting you need about 6 inches for a rear vent.
