Default HELP! Dryer wont heat, replaced everything
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PYET244AYW
Age: 1 - 4 years

HEllo, I have been reading all the other threads on here, and have tried it all, and am still having trouble.
PRoblem: dryer wont heat
Replaced thermostat, heating element, and thermal fuse. Still "no heat". I have just spent over $100 trying to fix this stupid dryer. Does anyone know anything else that it could be? Oh we were also told to disconnect the dryer vent hose as it could be clogged going to the exterior of the house, so we tried that as well, and no luck.
THanks.

Did you try resetting the circuit breaker. Dryer needs 240 volts, you will need a meter to check things.

Yes we did reset the breaker, and checked the voltage coming out of the dryers' outlet, and it is 244. I am wondering if it is the centrifugal switch? which means we need to buy a new dryer. This sucks since our dryer is only 2 years old.
We checked the voltage of all the components and they are all fine, which is good since we just replaced them all. Let me know if there is anything else that it could be. Thanks Wendy

Check for burnt wires, rare that the motor switch goes bad. Only possibility the timer is bad. Take apart timer and check for bad contacts.

Just buy an extended warranty for $150 for a year then will solve your problem? Newer system they replace part by the module to control each function. or you can run diagnostic and it will tell you where is the problem. then can you fix it your self .

There is one more thermostat on the product. It is a operating thermostat. I don't know by looking at the picture if it has 2 wires coming to it or 4 wires. You have to take the front off the dryer, and it is located at on the blower housing. This could very well be your problem. If it has 2 wires, unplug the unit, and take the wires off the thermostat, and put them together, and tape them up. Put the front back on, and turn the dryer on. If it has 4 wires, it would be best to replace it. You have gone this far, give it a try. I can be reached at T. PAONE's APPLIANCE SALES & SERVICE GUIDE

Here is a link with the schematic
Maytag PYET244AYW
I would check the unit using Timed Dry as this is the easiest
The current path for the heater is
L1 : Timer Contacts L/H : Heat Selector Switch L1/C : Cycling Thermostat : Safety Thermostat : Heating Element : Motor Cent Switch 3/4 : L2

The Thermostat just after Heat Selector Switch is a self cycling thermostat, it has an internal heater which will cycle it on and off. If you look at the Heat Selector Switch position chart you will notice that the internal heater is connected when using Low heat.

Since you have a meter, unplug the dryer and check each component for continuity. Always disconnect one side of the component you are testing to ensure you are not reading an alternate path
On some motors you can slip in a small screwdriver or piece of cardboard to activate the Cent Switch

If all reads OK, I would disconnect the two wires going to the Motor Cent Switch and tape them together. Making sure they cannot short to anything. Then plug in the unit and give it a try. These contacts are to ensure that the heater does not come on without the motor running so do not leave them shorted.

On some motors the swich can be replaced without replacing the whole motor assy

Hope this helps
