Go buy yourself a volt/ohm meter
You can get a decent one for under $20.00
You do not need anything fancy but it is nice to have one with leads a couple feet long. If it saves you from purchasing one unnecessary part it has paid for itself.
This is also the safest way to check things.

Have you checked your breaker or mains fuses. Click the breaker on/off a couple times. The motor and timer run on 120V, only the heater on 240V so if you loose half the line the dryer will still run.
