Default Heater coils shut down after start
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DDE7108
Age: More than 10 years

REPOST: In this GE dryer both heater coils shut down within 60 seconds of starting the unit. While the coils cease functioning the rest of the unit seems to continue to operate normally, i.e., drive motor works, timer works, etc. The high limit, high drum and low drum thermostats and the coils have been replaced along with a thorough cleaning of the ductwork. The problem still persists.

I found a wiring diagram for this dryer which shows that this unit has a devise called a BOARD & RESISTOR-TERM in line with the common heater coil terminal (the middle terminal). I am not familiar with this devise and whether it could be the culprit. How does one test it? When I check it with a meter, no current passes thru nor is there any continuity.

Does anyone know something about the BOARD & RESISTOR-TERM? What does it do? Could this resistor devise cause coil shutdown? If so, how does it happen?em?

Can you please verify your model number?

There should be some letters at the end.
