Default Heat element
Brand: Frigidaire
Age: 1 - 4 years

Initially the dryer would not work, so i checked the thermal protection and found it to be defective(>220).
I shorted the wires to check the circuit and now it works but I noticed the dryer is VERY hot on the back and brownish from heat.

I understand that this is dangerous to test it without thermal protection but I am afraid that I am just chasing my tail to replace this part.

Is it possible that something else is wrong like the heating element or thermostat or should I just repair the thermal part?
