Question Having to run dryer 2-3 times to dry one load of laundry
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: pye2300ayw
Age: 1 - 4 years

i'm not sure where to start looking as far as replaceing parts. my dryer is still in great shape..but lately i've been having to restart dryer 2 sometimes 3 times to dry a single load. i keep my lint filter cleaned out...but everytime the cycle is done, the clothes are still moist....i can feel heat coming from the back,i can feel heat and see the red in the back from the heating coil........so its obviously still putting out heat......NOW WHAT?????......anybody know what is going on with it let me know.

The most common cause of your problem is a partially clogged vent system
Remove the vent from the unit and run a load
Does it now work OK?
If you do not want any lint in the house take a pair of pantyhose, put one leg inside the other and attach this to the dryer's exhaust. Leave enough room for the pantyhose to blow out like a windsock.

If now OK, clean the vent and check to make sure the outside vent flap opens easily.

If still no good. Hold your hand over the exhaust is there lots of heat and lots of airflow. Low airflow can be caused by a loose blower wheel (fan) and/or a blower wheel that is clogged with lint.

Here is a link to your parts, includes a wiring diagram
Maytag PYE2300AYW

Try different cycle types and temp settings
Does timed dry run OK on regular/high heat?
Note: On AUTO settings your timer actually runs slower if it runs at full speed (TIMED DRY) your clothes will not have enough time to dry properly.

Sounds pretty easy. Most cases, you just have to follow your vent tubing to the outside vent on your wall. Undo the clamp and inspect for blockage. Moisture must vent out for the dryer to function. If the blockage isn't there, I'll wager it's in the line somewhere. Good luck.

Hi rainelbeck. New dryers aren't immune to breakdowns. But if you are doing a lot of laundry for the past three years (four to six loads/week), or if you have an obstructed outside vent (look on the exterior of your home where the dryer is), you may have a blockage in your line. Check to make sure you have heat during the run cycle. If you can feel heat, the cause is probably in your vent tube.
