Default Grinding Sound from Drum & Pinches Clothes
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DG4000
Age: More than 10 years

I've a Matag DG4000, and I'm handy at repairing most things. Several months ago, the dryer drum began a slight grinding sound and also began pinching clothes between the front of the drum and the case housing in which it spins. The problem became worse. Now, it is to the extent that it sounds like steel sled runners being drawn across concrete. I've removed the dryer front and have pulled the parts list from Parts Select. Looking at the "Section: Lint Screen, Tumbler, Tumbler Front & Back" diagram, I can't be sure about what part(s) should be replaced, as it is probably a worn part(s). I'd appreciate some direction. Thanks

Look the dryer over and determine where the scrapping sound was coming from.

You will likely need the glide kit and the front seal.

Check the drum rollers at the back as well.

Here is a link to your dryer model DG4000.
