Default Good 5-6 min then rattles and no heat
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LGR5620KQ1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Stange one for me,.. starts off 5-7 mins normally. I hear the gas valve kick in and feel the vent pipe heat for three cycles or so then a rattle or a buzz noise with no heat. I assume this is the gas valve coils chattering. The timer looks to work in timed and air cycles. Repeatable scenario.

Default cleaning

Yes,.. sorry forgot to mention that that was the first thing I did was to go through the air flow cleanup. More so that before,.. took off the link shute and hear box for cleaning. Nothing major for obtructions had some accumlation at the blower, but all look as clean as new now. Same repeatable scenario with 5-6 min good cycles then the buzz and no heat. Just noticed the view plug on the lower front. Removed that and can see the ignitor glow during the buzzing but no flame.

Is this a normal cycle, at least through the first six mins? This was an unloaded dryer and clean vent air flow.

For anyone interested, I fixed this by replacing the dual coils on top the gas valves. When the prob occured, it would not clear until the dryer cooled down for about 30 mins. During that time the thermal units we still electrically closed, I estimated it was the coil issue then and the rattle was located there as well. $19.99 at Marbeck.
