Default GE Profile (Electric) Won't Start
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DPSB513EB0CC
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a 8(?) year old electic GE Profile dryer, model number DPSB513EB0CC, that will not start. It has power, but the start button just flashes. The other buttons are "functional" in that they light up when you press them and it changes the predicted drying time etc, but hitting the start button doesn't do anything. No noise other than the beep of the button. The interior light bulb was blown, but it has been that way for years.

Here is what I have done already-

1. Tested the door switch with a multimeter (works)
2. Tested the "Thermostat Safety Left" (thermal fuse) with a multimeter (works)
3. Tested the high limit thermostat with a multimeter (works)
4. The belt seems to be fine

I'm at a loss at this point. Any ideas?

Do you have 240 volts at the wall plug?

Open the control panel and check the harness connection to the control.

Here is a link to your dryer model DPSB513EB0CC.

Default checked those things

Checked the power out of the wall, it is good.

I get the feeling that the machine is getting good power, but something is keeping it from starting. It doesn't seem to be mechanical, it doesn't make any noises other than the beeps of the buttons. Seems to me that it must be a sensor or fuse, but I think that I checked them all?

Have you check the switch down by to motor?

Have you check the voltage coming out of the control board?

You will need your wiring diagram to know what terminals to check.

There may be a wire burnt off of the motor switch.

Default thermistor

I went back and rechecked everything again and found that the thermistor has no continuity. Must have accidentally skipped that on my first pass through.

I assume that would keep profile from starting at all?

If the thermistor is in the starting circuit and it is opened then the dryer will not start.
