Default GE Dryer not shutting off
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DBSR453EB1WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I woke up this morning and the dryer was still running.
So a full 8 hours...

The clothes were very hot, good thing I was home to stop it. I have the GE dryer, model number: DBSR453EB1WW

I know the heating element is fine. I am guessing the timer or thermostat. The timer does not move if that helps. I just want to be sure I order the right part.

Let me know what you think, thanks!

I would have to agree with your diagnosis. It would be a timer. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Here is the parts breakdown
GE DBSR453EB1WW

Try timed dry, now does the timer move? It uses different timer contacts and a different circuit path than AutoDry.
Try a low temp setting, does the heater cycle correctly?
Check the resistor in the control panel, should be around 4 kilohm.

On AutoDry timer moves when heater is off, the resistor drops the 220 volts to 120 for the timer motor, so if heater never shuts off the timer will not advance.

If on AutoDry Air only timer does not advance then it is either the timer or the resistor. Check to make sure the heater stays off.
