Default GE DPSR473EW0WW squeaking from rear of dryer
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DPSR473EW0WW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My dryer began squeaking very loudly a few weeks ago. I pulled the front of the dryer off and found that one of the slides was damaged as well as the front drum bearing. I have replaced the front drum bearing and slide but this did not fix my problem. It is now squeaking from the rear of the dryer as well.

I have read on this forum in another post that the rear drum bearing and/or idler pulley may need to be replaced as well. How can I tell what/which part is giving me the problem now? Any help or suggestions are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Smile Rear pulleys

I just replaced 2 rear drum pulleys. They squeaked to no end until I replaced them. The pulleys are universal and cost me 41.00. I spent more time trying to replace the belt than the pulleys. That should fix your problem

Here is a link to your dyer
GE DPSR473EW0WW Parts List

As you can see you do not have rear rollers bot have a center mount drum
There is a rear access cover
Remove it
Oil the shaft and rotate the drum to work the oil in
If the squeak disappears or lessens you have found the culprit
Oil will last a little while but you will probably have to replace the assembly

Do not use too much oil, remember your heater is right there.
Also oil does not look nice on white shirts.

Thank you both for your replies. I will try to oil the shaft as you said and see what happens.
