Default Gas dryer burns marks
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FSG748GFS1
Age: 5 - 10 years

Greetings,

I own a gas dryer model # FSG748GFS1, my cloths have burn marks and looking inside the drum I noticed a space in between the drum and the machine, it's only on the lower left side and it's about 1/2-3/4 of an inch wide. I did read the letters and feel comfortable to do the work myself, but, still a bit confused about which parts I'll need for the job. Thank in advance for your support and help,

R. Korn.

It sound like the rear bearing may be failing.

Also check the front seal.

Here is a link to your dryer model FSG748GFS1.

You need the rear bearing kit. Don't buy each piece seperate, ask the people here at parts select to give you the rear bearing kit for your model. If you need to be walked through the repair, you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Once you take the front off, you will be able to see if you need to replace it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Thanks Tom,
I'll check your website for how to remove the front.
You and Sheila have been very helpful.

Pop the top, by putting a putty knife between the top and the front, on the right side, and pop up, then do the same on the left side. Then look inside the front panel up top, on the left about 4 inches down, and take the phillips head screw out, and do the same on the right side. Then pull the panel toward you, and lift up. Remove the wires from the door switch, and you have it. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

It was real easy pulling the front panel and taking the drum out. I saw that part of the fiber (seal?) around the opening on the front panel has some rust on it and that its thickness is uneven, the other part was thicker and white. Rear bearing looks just fine ( I might not know what to look for), metal piece is good and white plastic housing seems unbroken. Should I just get a new seal or is it something with the bearing as well?
You guys are amazing, thanks in advance.
Just found that a yellow colored wheel connected to the motor has a crack...

If the front part is uneven, I would replace it. The white piece that you talk about, is probably missing a wad of lithium greese. Replace the front part, and buy some lithium greese, and fill up the cup in the rear, and then put the drum back in. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
