Default Frustrating dryer
Brand: Estate
Model Number: EED4300SQ
Age: 1 - 4 years

My drier is about 3 weeks out of warranty and suddenly stopped working. I have a pretty good working knowledge of electrical appliances but I am frustrated to no end.

I have 230V at the outlet, my thermal fuse is good (ohmed it out and reads correctly), my motor is good, My timer motor is good, my element is good, in fact the only place where I have no continuity is the cycling thermostat (p/n:3387134). The contacts on the lower portion are closed but when I check the upper portion it is open. Is it a N.O. contact? I cannot seem to find schematics for this t-stat anywhere. The dryer did not have a wiring diagram. Can someone please help?

As a note when plugged in I can't hear the timer running. I can't remember if it made any noise before this happened.

There is another thermal fuse. It is in the back section, and is white in color, and is about an inch and a half long, and a half inch wide. That could be your problem, or the door switch. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

I have checked the thermal fuse and it is good. The cycling t-stat has 2 sets of contacts. One is open and the other is closed. Is this normal?

Oh and also the door switch is also good. That was my first suspicion.

The thermostat readings are correct. Basically you have said everything is good, and there is still no heat. If that is true, then it would most likely be your motor switch. Tom

Thanks Tom. I'm also considering the chance that it could be the timer assembly (not the timer motor). Do you happen to know how to diagnose the assembly? (I know this is a long shot but figured it doesn't hurt to ask)
