Default Frigidaire
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FDG336RES0
Age: 5 - 10 years

My dryer was making a loud screeching sound for the past week tonight it just stopped. Came to a screeching halt as it were. Something overheated because there was a burning smell to it. I believe it's the motor because the blower seemed to be blowing out the hose. I took the belt off the motor and spun it and it didn't seem to be locked up but the brushes may be shot. . Is this evaluation correct or is there other things I should check before I replace the motor. The motor is more expensive than I thought it would be so I want to be sure.

Check the drum bearing.

It sound more like the bearing in the the drum was going bad and broke.

The motor would no longer be able to turn and might have tripped the circuit breaker or opened the fuse.

Here is a link to your dryer model FDG336RES0.
