Frigidaire 1-18 Dryer Belt Replacement Brand: Frigidaire Age: More than 10 years Hello:
I'm attempting to replace the dryer belt on a Frigidaire 1-18 Dryer. I believe it was manufactured in the 70s. I believe it's model #DEC-5B. There is no way to remove the front panel of the dryer since it is one piece with the sides. So, I removed the back panel and the panel behind that which has the rollers attached that support the drum. I was able to get the belt off by cutting it. Am I going about this the correct way? With the back panels off it looks like I have enough room to slide the new belt back on. I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Is there anything else I should be doing while I have this thing apart? Should I grease the drum or rollers or any other type of preventive maintenance? Any help, tips, diagrams, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, how would I find out what type/length of belt to get? Should I just take it with me to the store?
Thanks,
Jeff
