We just bought this from a "friend." The dryer makes this terrible sound when turned on for about 10 seconds and then goes off automatically. Comes back on in a few minutes only to shut off again in 10 seconds.

when you say it comes back on do you mean by itself or you turn it back on?? Unplug the machine and remove the panel between the washer and dryer in the front 2 screws. plug the machine back in and turn it on and see if you can find where the noise is coming from
