Default Fixed my drum bearing, now no heat! WTf?
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: dpxr483ea0ww
Age: 5 - 10 years

Today I went to put in my front drum bearing and slides in. I opened the top and front panels to do this. Then put back together. My squeaking problem now gone. So i decide to put a load in. Well it tumbled for over an hour, i went to go check on it, no heat. Thought maybe a wire was loose. But did not find one. Last time something like this happen my THERMOSTAT HI-LIMIT went bad. But that was 3 years ago. It was working fine until i put in the new drum bearing, any ideas?

When you put the drum back in did you catch the rear bearing on the element? Check for cont. and visually inspect.

I would check your conections at the element then. At some point you do not have the required voltage to the element. As you stated about the high limit, just make sure the fuses have cont. across them ( they are not open)

I looked at the image if the element. There looks to be 3 different ones. They are on the element itself.

well, i have a heating element that someone rebuilt that i bought just to get the thermostat. I can replace that and see if it was something in that. If it doesn't work, then it might just be the thermo. i will do that tomorrow, keep you posted,

I was wondering with all this guessing do you have a volt ohm meter? If you do. I can walk you through some test procedures. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
