Unhappy Extremely Slow Drying - Tried Everything!
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LTE5243D
Age: 1 - 4 years

I'm the mother of 2 boys and my laundry is stacking up - so needless to say, I'm desperate!

My dryer dried perfectly fine just a couple of months ago. Then it started taking a little longer (maybe an hour and a half) about a month ago. Now, it takes me at LEAST 3 hours to get a load of laundry dried.

First, we called our appliance rental company and had them come out. He looked things over and determined it was the vent - and therefore charged us.

We live in an apartment and the vent runs into the ceiling, through the space between our apartment and the one above us and to the outside...approximately 15 feet. A pretty long run, but due to the fact that it dried effectively at one point - I don't think it's the problem.

We ran a little lint cleaner ourselves...and realized we couldn't reach the whole run, so we had our landlord come out. He used various methods to clean it, but it still wasn't running well. Finally we had a professional come out and he got a relatively small amount of lint out. Still not drying at this point.

So, we call the appliance rental place and have them come out and replace our unit. It arrived yesterday and to my complete disappointment - it's STILL not drying. I ran two auto cycles last night and one this morning and they are finally dry. That's a grand total of about 3 1/2 hours. I even tried the timed cycle and it doesn't make any difference.

Any other ideas? I'm willing to try anything.

Try this test, leave the vent hose off, then dry a load of your normal laundry. If your dryer is working properly, then the landlords vent systme has to be cleaned from top to bottom. I have heard of birds nests in vent on roof, and all kinds of blockages.Bettyboop
