My electric dryer will not start. It worked one day, and stopped the next day. When I open the door, the light comes on. We turn the knob to a setting and push the button, and it does nothing.

Any suggestions on what I can try to see what the problem is? I'm fairly handy and replaced a heating element on a previous dryer before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, Kevin you have a possibility of three problems. The first being a blown breaker the second being the door switch, and the third, and most likely the thermal fuse. I took it apart and there was a lot of lint in it. Apparrantly, the vent came off in the back. Could this have caused the problem. I'm going to clean it out, but could this have caused the thermal fuse to trip?

Yes it is very possible. Tom
