Default Electric dryer won't start
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LEC5000PQO
Age: 1 - 4 years

I ran my dryer last night with no problems, then this morning when I woke to start more laundry the dryer won't work. No noise, no starting just dead, so I went and checked the fuse box just to be safe. And its not that, checked the plug, now I just don't know? Any help would be great, thank you, Jackie

Jackie unplug the dryer, and take the back off, and you will see a white piece, about an inch and a half long, and a half inch wide. Take the two wires off, and put them together, and put a little tape around it so it does not hit metal, and plug it in and hit start it should work. That is the thermal fuse. replace it. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com.. Tom

Thank you, Kayakcrzy, but I now have more questions for you or someone else. You talked about the thermal fuse, what dose it look like if it went bad? Second, I was looking around in the back of my dryer and the power cord looks bad so I was trying to take it off and one screw would not come off and in the process I damaged one of the 3 wires (that are attached to the dryer) that connect to the power cord. So, when I do replace them how do you unplug and plug them into their connections (like thermal fuse for instance?) they look pretty tight?
