Default Electric dryer runs cont in auto modes
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: dbsr463
Age: 1 - 4 years

My GE dryer is 2 months out of warranty. The timer will not advance in the Cotton Automatic and the Easy care (Automatic) Permament press, etc modes. Timer works OK in the "Timed Dry" mode. I am aware of note in dryer booklet that it is normal for timer to stay still and a sensor that tells when your clothes are dry and the timer will advance. No matter how long you leave it run the timer will NEVER advance. Looking at diagram with unit I have clecked all function switches on front of panel and they are OK. The "Control Timer Cam Chart" confuses me in that it shows a blank (OPEN) (T-F) for the beginning of these two malfunction modes as if the timer motor has no electrical power to cause it to run. Their is another source for the ground side of the motor that goes thu a 4500 ohm resister to two different thermostats. I am suspecting that one of these termostats is the culprit, but not sure. I am not fimiliar with the Thermostat symbol and how to interp it. Any help would be appreciated. Paul in Florida

PS: If my problem is a thermostat, how do you get into the inside of dryer. There seems to be no access panels in front or on the back to get to these parts?
