Two things;

Try running it without the vent attached
If you do not want any lint take a pair of panty hose, put one leg inside the other, attach this to the dryer output and give it enough room to blow out like a wind sock
This will tell you if it is a vent problem.
PS It is always a good idea to clean and check the vent system when you have the dryer apart.

Put the dryer on a no heat setting re: fluff.
Do you still have heat?
If you do there is a good chance that your heater is touching the case.
Either broken or warped coil
