Default Dryer won't tumble
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: DE612
Age: More than 10 years

Upon opening dryer found clothes were not dry and tumbler wasn't working. Upon removing the lower rear cover I found a broken tumbler belt. If belt is replaced to enable tumbler to work will heat be restored to dryer as well? We have not had any trouble with the heat prior to the belt breaking.

Was the motor running when you discovered that the clothes were not dry?

Because there is no belt switch the motor should still turn on and the element should still heat.

If there is no heat check the element and wiring.

Here is a link to your dryer model de612.

Yes, the motor was running when we discovered that the clothes were not dry.

There was a little heat starting to form in the dryer as well.

My new belt should arrive today how do I open the top of the dryer to replace it. Any help there from anyone.
Thanks

There are two screw in the front panel near the bottom of the panel.

Remove the screw and remove the panel this will give you access to put the new belt on.
