Default Dryer won't tumble
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DVLR223EEOWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

My dryer is about 2-3 yrs old. The night before it died,I heard a squeaking noise
coming from the dryer. I press the start button and it just makes a hummmm. I have removed all the screws from the back panel, but can't figure out how to remove the panel.

put the screws back in the back panel, the open up the door and there will be two screws on the top of the front panel that will allow you to get the top off. see if you can turn the drum by hand. if you can with out to much force then it sound like the motor may be bad

Thanks for the info. I was able to remove the top & turn the tumbler by hand. Does this mean the motor is no good?

if the humming is coming from the motor then it sounds like the motor is bad. turning the drum by hand was to check to see if the drum was stuck and making the motor overheat.
