Question Dryer won't stay running
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: DE 606
Age: More than 10 years

Dryer will run when the control knob is pushed in, but will shut-off as soon as you take your hand off the knob. The control switch has a small spring which when removed will allow the dryer to stay running. What is the purpose of the spring? Is it safe to leave it off?

Yes, that switch is a momentary switch. It is a pain. They used to not have them. All you had to do is turn the timer, and push it in. If you need me you can reach me at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
