Which thermal did you test? the one on top of the heating element box, or the one on the blower housing that can blow and then the motor can't run without it?

Do you have a volt/ohm meter
If not I would go buy one. Does not have to be a fancy digital unit. It should have test leads at least 2 feet long, measure ohms from 1 to 100,000 ohms, AC to 600 volts as a minimum spec
Should be able to get one for less than $20.00
If it saves you from ordering one part it will pay for itself and also will save a lot of time trouble shooting.

Does your interior light turn on with the door open?
Did the timer continue to run in the past with the door open?

Just because a switch clicks does not mean it actually closes the contacts

Here is a link to the dryer
Whirlpool TEDS840PQ0
The main thermal fuse is Item 7 in Bulkhead Parts

The thermal Fuse that is bad is the one on the housing. It is white in color, and it is about an inch and a half long, and a half inch wide. Here's how to check with out a meter. Un plug the dryer, and pull the 2 wires off the fuse, and put them together, and put alittle black tape around them, and plug in. There you have it, you go it. Tom
