I read the post about Kenmore Series 80 dryer won't start. I took out the Thermal Fuse (white piece 1.5" by 1/2") and put the wires together. It made the noise like it was starting but wouldn't catch. I tried it a few times and there was a burny smell. Did I kill it completely? I will replace that piece but appearently something else is still wrong too. Where else do I look?

Take the cover off of where the power cord goes on the back, and test for 240 volts, then test from each wire to the center one to make sure you have125v on both sides, also I've seen 5 or 6 in the past couple years with a bad neutral in the fuse box or burned off in side the dryer, if you don't have a good neutral, nothing will work!! Also test the motor thermal fuse with the 2 lite blue wires, test the door switch.
